Are you a Monkey Island fan? Have you waited ages for Monkey Island 5 to come out after enjoying the arrival of Monkey Island 4 sometime forever ago?
Well, you just happen to be in luck!
Telltale Games has released the first of five episodes of Tales of Monkey Island (http://www.telltalegames.com/monkeyisland), which is about $35 for all of the episodes.
Now, Telltale Games is obviously not LucasArts, and I was a little worried about whether the new MI game would be any good. I feared it would be a cheap knockoff that didn't do the originals any justice. But having spent the past hour or so playing, I can safely say that it DOES do the original games justice! It is, as far as I'm concerned, definitely Monkey Island 5 and not just a knockoff.
Some of the people who worked on Tales of Monkey Island (which I'll refer to as TMI [haha] or MI5) also worked on the previous MI games at LucasArts, which means that it's definitely in good hands. Even Ron Gilbert himself, the original creator, was in on making the storyline, and he apparently didn't care much for the storylines of MI3 and MI4 (which he wasn't in on), which means that MI5's storyline should be quite interesting.
Anyway, you can download the first episode as soon as you've purchased the game through Telltale's store, and it's only about 180MB, so it's a quick download, assuming you have broadband.
And if you don't know what Monkey Island is, you are uncultured swine! GET THE GAMES! ALL OF THEM, YOU MAGGOTS!
