Its been there for ages, thats what I use to find some landmarks or quest things.

This isn't the in-game based one from arda. This is real maps from NZ documenting locations used in the shooting of the film.
Last month someone at the Google Earth Community named "nzlegend" took some local knowledge, a GPS, and a LOTR guidebook, and mapped the shooting locations for the films into a Google Earth File.
The in game one is actually what spurred my finding this one though! Both very cool!
